Journey

We're heading off to Minnesota later this week, so you'll notice a little pause in my blogging. But I've decided to start a recurring feature called "Field Notes from the Midwest." Those of you who think that Minnesota is "back east" will learn a lot about the distinctive local culture of the middle part of the country. And those of you who, like me, grew up in the Midwest but set roots elsewhere can re-experience the joys of bugs, humidity, hot dish, and games of "duck, duck, grey duck." And for those of you who live in the Midwest now, I'll try to include some funny stories that feature my inlaws (But only the ones who admit that they don't read this. That's the rule -- if you don't read the blog, you might show up in it). So please come back -- I'll have something posted by Monday August 27.
